Just Like That

Kaavya's First Ride

My son Siddhanth, 4 years of age now, loves to play with his sister, Kaavya (6 months) that much I was sure about. He is always eager to do anything for her. Today, I just asked him, if he would take her on his back for a ride and he readily agreed.

To my surprise, he took one full round of our living room with her on his back. It was too cute. I hope and wish they always be like this.

My memories of Jagjit Singh

Since I was a kid, I have always loved Gazals.. I don't know why, but I simply loved them. I have a huge collection of gazals, consisting Jagjit Singh, Pankaj Udhas, Ghulam Ali.. Jagjit Singh has been my favorite.. May it be romantic song or sad ones, he just had the best song to describe my mood... It felt like he is singing exactly what's in my mind.

It must have been the year 2003-2004, I was traveling to Chennai for my cousin's wedding. I was waiting for security check.. and my.. Who was I seeing, the man himself, Jagjit Singh. He was standing in front of me with many great singers like Anoop Jalota, etc... I wanted to go and speak to him, but I was so scared... Wish I had the courage then.,.I will never be so lucky again!

I saw what a good man he was. There was a lady with an infant, there were so many people, but no one cared to help her with her bags, it was Jagjit ji, who helped her all the way till she boarded the flight. He didn't behave like a star or the celebrity he was.. It is so difficult to write for him in the past tense. It will take some time to get in terms with this fact.

Some of my personal favorite of his are, Hum to hain pardes mein, tum itna jo muskura rahe ho, Chitti na koi, sarakti jaye, hothon se choo lo, ye daulat, haath chute, din aa gaye, ae khuda re, baat niklegi to,... and the list goes on and on... You will be missed greatly.
